The Sino-Canadian Historic Association studies the history of Canada through the perspective of the ethnic Chinese. Bringing with them their culture, technology, and perseverance, early Chinese immigrants created brilliant contributions that still affect all Canadians today. Through the study of the now disappearing Chinese historical sites, we decipher the day-to-day life of those early Chinese settlers. As a contemporary historian once pointed out: "there would be no Canadian Pacific Railway without the Chinese, and there would be no Canada without the Railway." The author Kingo JL was born in 1966 in Guangzhou, China. In 1993 he immigrated to Canada with his wife and first son. After working a multitude of different jobs, including owning a successful furniture business, he encountered the tourism industry. As a tour guide, Kingo combines his appreciation for nature with a scholarly interest in history.The writing of this book was borne out of the realization that almost all the historical literature on Canada was written by the Europeans. Due to a variety of factors, recounts of the Chinese part of Canadian history is often distorted or understated. It is the author's hope that by reading this book, Chinese-Canadians and their descendants can look back at their roots and feel pride for their place in history.
